When to consider in home respite care for a loved one.

If you find yourself needing a temporary break from caregiving responsibilities or require assistance due to a carer’s absence, it may be the right time to schedule short-term respite care. Signs that you could benefit from additional assistance include feelings of burnout, increased stress, or the need for a temporary relief period.

How do I access respite care?

Your Care Manager will collaborate with you to gather relevant information about your needs and develop your Care Plan. If respite care is an assessed care need, you will then be able to develop a care team of experienced respite care providers from our list of suppliers.

What to look for in a respite care provider?

When deciding on the right type of supplier for respite care or for a short stay at a centre, determine what specific care needs may require attention. For example, you may want to consider dementia specialists, the certain activities available, or even how you feel when you interact with the staff. Our dedicated team will work with you to understand your specific needs and preferences to help guide your decisions.

What is Short Term Restorative Care?

Like the Home Care Package, Short Term Restorative Care, also known as STRC, is an Australian government funded aged care program. STRC is an 8 week subsided, goal-focused program that is aimed at providing temporary support for those who want to stay out of an aged care home or long term care. You cannot receive STRC whilst on the Home Care Package. Let’s Get Care is not an STRC provider.
